- New 200cc bike design leaked -
- Could use the same 200cc engine from the Xtreme
- Likely to be launched in next 12-18 months
After strengthening its bread and butter motorcyles in the entry-level and scooter segments, Hero MotoCorp has shifted its focus to 200cc and above segment. In fact, they are developing another premium motorcycle that is likely to be a 200cc.
A design patent image of this upcoming Hero MotoCorp motorcycle has been leaked online. A quick look at the leaked image, reveals some interesting aspects of the bike. Firstly, it doesn’t get sharp and edgy styling as the Xtreme 200R. The design is more contemporary and has some bulk on the fuel tank and the tail section. The exhaust is larger than the Xtreme 200R and carries a new design. The front and rear tyres are wider. There’s a high chance that the Gurgaon-based manufacturer is following a power-cruiser design language, but could be adding its own design touches as well. The instrument cluster resembles the one that is on the XPulse.
There’s no concrete information on the engine specs as of now, but it is likely to be powered by the same 200cc single-cylinder engine that is seen on the Xtreme 200R and the XPulse. That way, the company can take advantage of economies of scale, helping it price the product competitively.
We can expect this motorcycle to make its way to the production line in the next 12 months. Hero MotoCorp plans to setup different showrooms for its premium range, and the presence of a few more 200cc bikes will help the dealers get more business and footfalls.
