Hero MotoCorp is all set to launch the updated Destini 125 in India in a couple of months. The Hero Destini 125 has been around for quite some time and was in desperate need of a makeover. That surely is the case with the updated scooter as is evident from the leaked images. Here’s what one can expect from the updated Destini 125
Design
The design of the new Hero Destini 125 is the biggest change we’ve seen. It features a completely new design language that offers a mix of both modern and retro elements. Take the front apron for example. It’s got a nice, rounded design with neat crease lines and integrated turn indicators. Above the front apron, you’ve got a new LED headlight that has a retro-scooter-like shape.
Move to the side and you’ve got a largely flat side panel with the badging pasted on the rear portion. And, although not visible in the image, the tail section is also likely to have been redesigned.
The colour of the scooter in the leaked image is black with copper accents on the apron, mirrors, bottom of the side panels and the tail section. It’s quite neatly executed and should add to the premium appearance of the scooter.
Also note the dark brown colour of the floorboard that matches the colour of the wide and long seat. The pillion grab rail with an integrated backrest, which appears to be padded, is a useful touch as well.
Features
Hero should offer the Destini 125 with a decent set of features. The list is likely to include LED lights and a digital instrument cluster, perhaps with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation, as it is the norm these days.
Engine and hardware
The engine in the new Destini 125 is likely to be carried forward from its predecessor. The
125cc, single-cylinder engine makes 9bhp at 7000rpm and 10.4Nm at 5500rpm. It is paired with a CVT.
The frame is suspended by a telescopic fork and a monoshock. What’s also interesting is that the new Destini 125 has the same alloy wheels that we’ve seen on the Hero Xoom. Braking duties, meanwhile, will be taken care of by a disc brake at the front and drum at the rear. The entry-level variant of the new Destini 125 will most likely have a drum brake at the front.
Price and competition
The Hero Destini 125 is expected to be priced between Rs 80,000 to Rs 85,000. It will go up against the Suzuki Access 125 and the TVS Jupiter 125.
