Hero Motocorp is scheduled to launch its version of the X440 in the country on 23 January. And since it has been spotted on test recently we have a fair idea of what the motorcycle could offer and here is what you can expect.
Styling
While the Hero Mavrick 440 is based on the same platform as the Harley-Davidson X440, it will come with a different design language. The spy images and video reveal that the Mavrick will have brawny-looking bodypanels but lean towards a modern styling. At the front, it gets a full-LED headlamp with ‘H’ shaped LED DRLs and circular LED turn signals. The rear end looks stubby and has a differently shaped exhaust canister as well.
Performance and hardware
Powering the Mavrick 440 is the same 440cc, single-cylinder engine as the Harley. However, there is a chance that Hero would alter the state of tune on the Mavrick to set it apart. The test mule which was spotted also had an exhaust note that sounded different from the X440. That said, it will have a five-speed gearbox.
The other aspect setting it apart from the Harley is the hardware. It comes with telescopic forks unlike the upside down forks on the X440. At the rear, there is a pair of shocks while braking is done by disc brakes at both ends. That said, dual-channel ABS will be features as standard.
Features
While the Harley-Davidson X440 is loaded with features, Hero is likely to skimp out on some to keep costs in check. However, it could get full-LED lighting and a digital console and USB charging port.
Pricing
Now to the important bit- the Hero Mavrick 440’s pricing. While the Harley-Davidson X440 is priced from Rs 2.40 lakh, we can expect Hero to price the motorcycle between Rs 1.80-2 lakh, ex-showroom. At this price point, it goes up against the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, Honda CB300F and the Jawa 42.
