Hero MotoCorp might the world leader when it comes to overall two-wheeler sales, though most of these volumes are made up by its range of commuter motorcycles. The Delhi-based manufacturer has just two scooters in its line-up – the Maestro and the Pleasure, though it now seems that it is soon going to add a third one. A popular automotive website recently posted a photo of a new Hero scooter on Facebook, fuelling rumours that the company is in the process of developing a completely new product.
Earlier this year, Hero MotoCorp showcased a host of new motorcycles and scooters at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Among these were three new concept scooters – Dash, Dare and the ZIR which were rumoured to be launched in 2015. From the spy picture however, we can clearly make out that the new model integrates indicators in the headlamp console, which indicates that this new model is neither one of the three concepts.
Unlike the Maestro and Pleasure, the front of the new scooter features telescopic suspension in place of the trailing link unit, which means that this new model might be positioned as a premium scooter. The heavy camouflage lets out very few details about the new scooter, though the shape of the rear panels, the seat and the grab rails seems to be very similar to that of the Maestro. This new model will also get Hero’s trademark Integrated Brake System.
Going by the spy picture, we think that this new scooter is close to production and may be launched in India by mid-2015.
