Hero MotoCorp has announced the launch of the 2023 Xtreme 160R 4V in India. This TVS Apache RTR 160 4V-rivalling roadster-segment motorcycle gets several updates over the two-valve version, and here we list its top five highlights from its India launch.

What are the engine specifications of the new Hero Xtreme 160R 4V?

The new Xtreme 160R 4V, as the name suggests, comes with a four-valve setup as against the two-valve layout on the previous version. This motorcycle uses a 163cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled four-valve motor that makes 16.6bhp and 14.4Nm, with an increased 1.6bhp and 0.4Nm over the two-valve model. Meanwhile, it retains the five-speed gearbox. Notably, the new engine on the Xtreme 160R 4V uses a bigger bore and a shorter stroke than the two-valve motor.

Does the new Hero Xtreme 160R 4V get any styling revisions?

The overall silhouette of the new Hero Xtreme 160R 4V is similar to the two-valve model. However, the two-wheeler maker has tweaked the design slightly, and the four-valve model gets a revised position of the headlamp that sits slightly lower, an updated fuel tank design, and a new belly pan. The Pro variant further benefits from a two-piece seat as standard.

What features does the new Hero Xtreme 160R 4V get?

The Xtreme 160R 4V's feature list is similar to the two-valve model. Thus, this new variant retains full-LED lighting and a digital instrument cluster that displays a speedometer, tachometer, odometer, trip meter, fuel level reading, and a clock. Then, there is a Bluetooth module on the Connected variant that offers access to SMS and call notifications. This connectivity suite 2.0 uses an e-sim and works with a smartphone application to send out accident-related alerts, the location of the vehicle, turn-by-turn navigation, locate a dealer, book a service, or call roadside assistance. Notably, the base and the Pro trims miss this feature. The Pro variant also gets split seats, upside-down front forks, and basic Bluetooth connectivity that displays call alerts.

What hardware does the new Hero Xtreme 160R use?

For starters, the base and Connected variants retain the conventional telescopic front forks and a preload-adjustable rear mono-shock to handle the suspension duties. The Pro variant, on the other hand, gets the new upside-down front forks that enhance the muscular looks of this Bajaj Pulsar NS160-rival. The anchoring hardware, on the other hand, is identical across the range, and the Hero Xtreme 160R uses disc brakes on both wheels. The safety net includes a single-channel ABS.
