-New streetfighter motorcycle
-250cc engine makes 30bhp and 25Nm
-Gets USD fork and monoshock
The Hero Xtreme 250R has been unveiled at the EICMA 2024. The new street naked motorcycle by Hero marks the company’s foray into the 250cc space.
Starting with the styling, it looks like a proper streetfighter. The angular LED headlight has an inset LED DRL, while the fuel tank is beefy. The tank extensions are also neatly integrated and follow the angular design theme. The side and tail sections appear to be a single unit and we like the sharply raked tail section. The bike seen in the images has a dual tone, red and white colourway that also looks quite nice. On the whole, the Hero Xtreme 250R looks good and proportionate.
Under the bodywork, there is a steel trellis frame that is suspended by a 43mm USD fork and a preload adjustable monoshock. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels with wide tyres. Braking duties are taken care of by a disc brake at the front and a the rear. The bike comes with switchable ABS modes.
Powering the bike is a new 250cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 4-valve, single-cylinder engine that makes 30bhp at 9,250rpm and 25Nm at 7,250rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox. Hero claims the engine propels the bike from 0-60kmph in 3.25 seconds.
In terms of features, the bike gets LED lights, a digital instrument cluster and a lap timer.
The Hero Xtreme 250R will go on sale in India in a few months. Expect it to be priced around the Rs 2 lakh to Rs 2.2 lakh, ex-showroom mark. In terms of competition, it goes up against the KTM 250 Duke and the Husqvarna Vitpilen 250.
