Honda India is busy evolving its 350cc, single-cylinder engine platform. A few months after patent drawings of their Royal Enfield Himalayan rivaling adventure bike surfaced, a new set of design patents for another motorcycle are doing the interweb rounds.
The motorcycle is based on what seems to be the H’ness CB350 platform, borrowing design cues from the ADV, and is possibly its Scrambler variant. Or, the other possibility is that this motorcycle is the updated version of the Honda CB350RS.
If we look at the design closely, we can spot the new fuel tank whose shape is similar to the one on the ADV. It has a metal bracket at the bottom, and like the ADV, the rider’s seat overlaps the fuel tank. The side and tail sections, however, are very similar to the CB350RS.
The bike is expected to be powered by the same engine that does duty in the CB350 and the CB350RS. It is an air-cooled, 348.36cc, single-cylinder engine that makes 20.7bhp at 5,500rpm and 30Nm at 3,000rpm. It is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
As for the chassis, we could use the same half-duplex cradle frame that’s seen in the current CB350 range. It is likely to have a telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The bike in the patents seems to have a 19-inch front/17-inch rear wheel setup, again similar to the CB350RS.
Honda recently introduced a refreshed CB350 and chances are the motorcycle that you see in these patent drawings might make it to Honda’s Big Wing showrooms by the end of 2024.
