Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India could be launching a new variant of the Activa 125 very soon. Its details have been revealed on the company’s official website and the variant could be called the Activa 125 H-Smart. Here's what we know about the updated model.
Does the Honda Activa 125 H-Smart get any new features?
The most significant updates for the upcoming variant come from the new Smart Key. It sports safety features like the Smart Unlock, which allows the owner to lock/unlock the scooter as well as the fuel lid and boot from a distance of 2 metre. Meanwhile, the Smart Find makes the indicators blink to locate your scooter easily in parking.
Then, there’s the Smart Start which lets you turn on the scooter with just a push and press of the button, whereas the Smart Safe locks the scooter once the key is about 2 metre away. Apart from that, the LED headlight, digital inset in the console, and side stand cut-off will be carried over.
Has Honda changed the new Activa 125 H-Smart’s design?
The Activa 125 H-Smart’s design will be the same as the standard model. So, it would get the same headlight with apron-mounted turn indicators and chrome bits in between. The single-piece seat with a grab rail at the back and the chunky side panels have been retained too.
Are there any changes to the upcoming Activa 125 H-Smart’s engine?
Honda will use the same 124cc single-cylinder motor in the H-Smart as it does for the standard models. This motor makes 8.18bhp and a torque of 10.3Nm. It also benefits from a silent start and idle-stop system.
What hardware does the Activa 125 H-Smart get?
The new Activa 125 variant rides on telescopic front forks and single rear shocks. Its braking hardware includes a front disc and rear drum brake mounted on alloy wheels. The H-Smart’s fuel tank capacity would be 5.3-litre, the same as the base models.
What could be the asking price for the Honda Activa 125 H-Smart?
Honda is yet to launch the scooter and we expect an official announcement from the Japanese brand very soon. Currently, the most expensive model in the 125cc range costs Rs. 84,916 (ex-showroom, Delhi), and we expect the H-Smart trim to cost a few thousand rupees more than the disc brake variant.
