- Powered by a BS6-compliant, fuel-injected motor
- Gets a couple of new features
- Comes in two variants and six colour options
Honda has launched the new generation model of its highest selling two-wheeler in India, the Activa 6G. The scooter has been introduced in standard and deluxe variants which are priced at Rs 63,912 and Rs 65,412 (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively. This is a premium of around Rs 8,000 over its BS4 counterpart.
The Honda Activa is now BS6-compliant with the previous carbureted motor making way for the new fuel-injected powerplant. The new 109.19cc, single-cylinder engine churns out 7.7bhp and 8.79Nm, which is a drop of 0.3bhp and 0.3Nm from the BS4 version. Also, the power comes in 500rpm later at 8,000rpm. Meanwhile, it is claimed to deliver 10 per cent better fuel-efficiency and smoother power delivery as compared to the outgoing model.
Honda has also updated the Activa in terms of features. The new model comes equipped with an ACG silent starter motor, engine start-stop switch, double lid external fuel filler cap and 18 litre underseat storage space. Furthermore, Honda has also increased the floorboard space while making the seat and wheelbase longer. Although it retains the overall styling of the older model, subtle chrome garnishing on the front apron gives it a fresh appeal.
In terms of cycle parts, the scooter now rides on a 12-inch front wheel and a 10-inch rear wheel. On the contrary, the outgoing model gets 10-inch wheels at both ends. What’s more, it comes equipped with telescopic forks up front, as opposed to the previous link-type suspension. Meanwhile, the scooter continues to get monoshock suspension at the rear. Braking is handled by drum brakes at both ends, assisted by combined braking system.
The new Activa 6G has been introduced in six colour options including blue, red, grey, black, yellow and white. Honda is offering the scooter with a six-year warranty. The company will commence bookings for the new Activa soon while deliveries will begin from 1 February 2020.
