- Leaked document shows a drop in power in the upcoming Honda Activa 6G
- Also reveals changes dimensions
- Expected to be launched on 15 January
Honda is likely to launch the next-generation Activa 6G on 15 January in India. Ahead of its official launch, a leaked document on the internet gives an insight about the scooter’s power figure and dimensions.
Firstly, the document confirms that the Activa will retain its current nomenclature and will carry the ‘6G’ suffix in its name. The most note-worthy revelation is about the new BS6-compliant engine which has apparently witnessed a drop in its performance. While the existing version churns out 8bhp at 7,500rpm, the BS6 model produces 7.6bhp which comes in 500rpm later at 8,000rpm. Although the next-gen model will be marginally less powerful, it will be more fuel-efficient due to the presence of fuel-injection, as opposed to the existing carbureted setup.
The leaked document also mentions the dimensions of the Activa 6G, which are different than that of the 5G version. While the existing model is 1,761mm long, its successor will be 72mm longer at 1,833mm. This is perhaps a result of Honda’s effort to make it more accommodating by introducing longer seat and footboard. Furthermore, the wheelbase of the new Activa will stand at 1,260mm, which is 22mm more than the outgoing model. Besides these changes, the new Activa 6G is likely to get a refreshed styling along with added features.
Honda retails the current Activa 5G starting from Rs 55,934 (standard) to Rs 58,199 (Deluxe edition). Expect the 6G edition to demand a premium of around Rs 5,000-8,000 over the BS4 model.
