- Next generation Activa in the works
- Will get new engine and will be loaded with features
- Launch next year
Honda is reportedly working on the next generation Activa. This upcoming Activa is likely to be built on a new platform, and will also be powered by a new BS-VI compliant 110cc engine.
According to a report, Honda is planning to revamp most products from its line-up. So the bikes and scooters will be built around a new chassis and have BS-VI compliant motors. The Activa, country’s highest selling scooter brand, is part of this makeover strategy. While there are not much details in terms of design and performance, one of the top honchos of the company did talk about some of its features.
The next-generation Activa will be equipped with connectivity features that we see on scooters like the TVS NTorq. The Japanese maker is keeping a watchful eye on the current as well as future trends, and would like to create products that will help them cater to a new set of buyers. So we can expect things like Bluetooth integration and navigation system –these features will eventually become standard in the next few years.
We don’t expect Honda to make massive design changes as the current styling is accepted by the mass audience. But introduction of new features and a better performing motor will definitely help Honda lead the scooter segment in the country. This upcoming Activa is likely to be launched in the beginning of 2020.
