Honda has launched the CB200X- it’s most affordable adventure-touring motorcycle in India. It is based on the Hornet 2.0, although with changes to its bodywork to suit its character. So here we tell you all you need to know about the new Honda CB200X.
ADV-like styling
As we mentioned earlier, the CB200X is based on the Hornet 2.0. However, it gets a styling that is inspired by its bigger sibling- the CB500X that is sold through Honda’s BigWing showrooms. So it gets a half-fairing like the CB500X that features faux air vents on either side and houses a full-LED headlamp that has been borrowed from the Hornet. The CB200X also gets a tinted windscreen and knuckle guards that come with built-in LED turn indicators. Moreover, the motorcycle also features a a raised handlebar, engine sump guard, and upswept exhaust as well as a split seat setup.
Feature list
While the changes to the bodywork set it apart from its street bike version, the Honda CB200X offers the same list of features. It gets a full-LED headlamp, tail lamp and turn signals. Honda has also fitted it with a full-digital instrument cluster like the Hornet 2.0.
No changes to cycle parts
Now the Honda CB200X is being positioned as a motorcycle that is capable for light off-road riding. However, the suspension hardware is the same as the one on the Hornet 2.0 with upside down forks and a monoshock. Braking hardware is also the same with 276mm disc up front and 220mm disc at the rear along with single-channel ABS. The only difference here are the tyres. The Honda CB200X’s 17-inch wheels are shod with block-pattern tyres at both ends unlike the road-biased tyres on the Hornet 2.0.
Engine
Powering the Honda CB200X is a 184cc, single-cylinder motor that it shares with the Hornet 2.0. This engine is capable of churning out 17.03bhp at 8,500rpm and 16.1Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm. It comes mated to a five-speed gearbox.
Pricing
The Honda CB200X is priced at Rs 1,44,500 (ex-showroom). This pricing makes it Rs 13,318 more expensive than the Hornet 2.0. As for competition, the CB200X has no direct rivals although it can be compared with the more off-road focused Hero Xpulse 200 that costs Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom).
