- Honda working on direct-injection
- Expensive technology but an efficient one
Just a few weeks ago, we talked about the new Honda Africa Twin which is likely to be called the CRF1100L, thanks to the increase in displacement. Now, there are more details about this adventure bike.
Thanks to some leaked patent design documents, we now know that the Japanese maker is working on direct injection for the Africa Twin. This means, the fuel injectors will push the fuel direct into the combustion chamber rather than into the intake ports.
This is an expensive design, but an efficient one. Better fuel efficiency and better performance are one of the advantages of this technology, but the most important one is less emissions which is the most important topic as of now, thanks to the introduction of Euro 5 emission norms.
We are expecting this new tech to be seen on the upcoming Africa Twin which will see a capacity hike of 86cc to 1084cc. This will increase the peak power to 101bhp. But in case, direction injection doesn’t come in the upcoming model, it will definitely be seen on the 2022 model. And yes, all future models of Africa Twin will be brought to India.
