- New motorcycle likely to arrive in 150-180cc segment
- To be unveiled on 2 August, 2023
- Launch likely to be ahead of the festive season
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India will update its portfolio by unveiling a new product on 2 August, 2023. While the finer details about this new product are not available, sources close to the development suggest that this vehicle will compete in the 150-180cc motorcycle segment of the Indian market. The company currently has two engines in this displacement class – 162.7cc and 184.4cc. The former powers the Honda Unicorn 160, while the latter is used on the CB Hornet 2.0.
Notably, this event will witness only the unveiling of this product, while its launch is likely to happen in the coming weeks. We expect it to arrive under the existing brand name – a strategy that we saw with the launch of the Shine 100 in India.
In terms of performance, this new motorcycle will feature similar output figures as the existing vehicles with the aforementioned engines. The 162.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine on the Honda Unicorn 160, for example, is tuned to deliver 12.73bhp and 14Nm. The 184.4cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor on the Hornet 2.0, on the other hand, dishes out 17.03bhp and 16.1Nm of peak torque.
We expect the prices to start in the Rs. 1.05-1.15 lakh (ex-showroom) range, which will put this new motorcycle between the Honda Unicorn 160 and the CB Hornet 2.0. The launch is likely to happen closer to the high-demand festive season that will commence in a few weeks.
