-Expected to be powered by a new liquid-cooled engine
-Likely to get new design and features
-May be launched in India soon
Indian Motorcycles is gearing up for the unveiling of the new Scout on 2 April. The American motorcycle manufacturer recently released a teaser of the new Indian Scout, announcing the date when it will be showcased to the world.
The new Indian Scout could feature a fresh design, albeit inspired by the Scouts of the past. Which means one can expect to see a bike with a round LED headlight, curved fenders and a tear drop shaped fuel tank.
Adding to the visual mass should be a new, liquid-cooled V-twin engine. At present, the Indian Scout is powered by a 1,133cc, liquid-cooled V-twin engine. It produces 95bhp, 97Nm and is paired with a six-speed transmission.
Expect the stance of the new Scout to be similar to that of the current bike. In typical cruiser fashion, the wheelbase should be long, the ground clearance should be low and the riding position should be relaxed with the rider’s foot pegs set forward. This cool-looking stance, however, comes at the cost of ride quality on our poor roads, considering the limited suspension travel, especially at the rear. The current Scout’s dual rear shocks, for example, only have 76mm of travel. We wait to see what changes Indian has made to improve this in the new bike.
Besides this, expect the new Scout to get a host of modern-day features such as all-LED lights, traction control, Bluetooth connectivity and more.
Following the global unveil, expect the Indian Scout to be launched in India. Currently, the Scout is available in four variants and we can expect a similar number of variants in the case of the new bike. The bike is expected to be priced around the Rs 18-19 lakh mark and will compete against the likes of the Harley-Davidson Sportster S.
