- Appears to be a sportier iteration of the Jawa 42
-Gets an upswept exhaust
-Launch on September 3
A new variant of the Jawa 42 is around the corner and the company has begun releasing many teasers on social media channels. The latest images partially reveal the bike and some interesting details can be seen.
Firstly the design and stance of the bike suggest a sporty bent to the roadster. The teardrop-shaped fuel tank appears longer and sleeker than the one on the current Jawa 42. It has a prominent 'Jawa' sticker pasted along its length.
The side and tail panels seem to be the same. One can also spot a compact seat and what appears to be pillion-grab rails under the seat. Also note the upswept exhaust pipes, which again hint at a sporty positioning.
The chassis should be derived from the other Jawa 42s that are on sale. However, one can see that this bike has a different alloy wheel design and should have the diamond cut effect on spokes which should be exclusive to the top variants. Also, while it is hard to tell, the bike wheels may be shod with fatter tyres than the one on the other roadster in the lineup.
There are no details about the engine yet but this variant of the Jawa 42 may be powered by the Jawa 350’s engine. This 334cc, single-cylinder engine makes 22.26bhp and 28.1Nm in the Jawa 350. Expect the engine to be tuned to suit the application of the new bike.
The bike is likely to be priced around the Rs 2.10 to 2.20 lakh, ex-showroom, mark. The launch will take place on 3 September.
