- New 1290 Super Adventure spotted
- Gets radar based cruise control
- Likely to be unveiled later this year
KTM is working on a new flagship adventure motorcycle. The 1290 Super Adventure is being reworked not to make it aesthetically different but more fun to ride as well.
According to these spy pictures, the Austrian maker is making major changes to the 1290 Super Adventure. Aesthetically, the 1290 Super Adventure looks more like the 790 Adventure, thanks to the presence of split saddlebags style fuel tanks. This approach doesn’t only frees up space but also lowers the center of gravity, making it easier to ride off-road.
The other major change seen on this KTM is the new headlamp unit and the small gap in between which houses a radar unit for cruise control. Bosch has been working on this technology for a while now, and it looks like it is ready to be made available on production motorcycles. The new 1290 Super Adventure is also equipped with new swingarm and aluminium subframe. In terms of performance, the bike will get Euro 6 compliant motor but whether there will be in increase in displacement or power, only time will tell.
We are expecting KTM showcase the new 1290 Super Adventure later this year, but official launch being scheduled for next year. Unfortunately, this bike won’t make its way to India anytime soon.
