- Gets revised styling, components and electronics
- Motor expected to provide more power while being Euro 5 compliant
- To be unveiled at the 2019 EICMA show in Milan
While KTM aficionados around the world are all hyped about the unveiling of the much-awaited 390 Adventure at the 2019 EICMA, the Austrian manufacturer has given one more reason to look forward to the upcoming bike show. The brand has released a short video of the next-generation flagship 1290 Super Duke that is also due to make its debut at the event.
The short teaser video of a 22-second clip featuring the different procedures going in the manufacturing of the new 1290 Super Duke. The teaser starts by highlighting the extensive use of carbon fibre used for various body panels and other vital components to keep the motorcycle’s overall weight under check. Next is the new trellis chassis that is painted in signature KTM orange livery that is fitted with top-spec fully-adjustable WP suspension units. Furthermore, the video showcases the assembly of other components like the final drive chain, rear sprocket on the single-sided swing arm with the light-weight alloy wheel. The video concludes with the date 5 November 2019 providing a definite unveiling date of the motorcycle which falls during the upcoming EICMA event in Milan.
Besides the information revealed in the teaser video, KTM has also been spotted testing the 1290 Super Duke earlier this year. The motorcycle featured a light-weight aluminium sub-frame instead of the steel trellis one on the out-going model. It also featured a new exhaust system that seems slightly longer and ending with a bigger end canister. As for the powertrain, the motorcycle is expected to be powered by the same 1103cc v-twin mill registering slightly higher power output figures despite the Euro 5 norms. KTM is likely to have achieved this by running a newer map and an updated electronics package.
Expect KTM to officially launch the next-generation 1290 Super Duke in the international markets soon after its official unveil at the EICMA event.
