- Based on the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure
- Will be powered by a 399cc, LC4c engine
- Scheduled to debut at EICMA 2024
We already know that KTM is readying the next-generation 390 Adventure for launch in early 2025. But, there's a surprise in store for us. A test mule of the upcoming KTM 390 SMC R supermoto bike has been spied testing in Europe ahead of its official debut at EICMA 2024.
The spy images reveal quite a few details about the new KTM 390 SMC R. For starters, it seems to be using the same frame and subframe as the 390 Adventure. Even the fuel tank, tail section, and beak fender seem identical.
However, the major difference is in the chassis geometry, front suspension and the wheels. The new 390 SMC R seems to be running 17-inch alloy wheels and stickier tyres instead of the 21/18-spoke wheels combination seen on the ADV. Even the handlebar and footrest position have been altered to suit the supermoto's characteristics.
Powering the KTM 390 SMC R will be the 399cc, liquid-cooled, LC4c engine that makes 45.3bhp and a peak torque of 39Nm. The motor will be mated to a six-speed gearbox. The motorcycle is likely to be offered with a plethora of electronic rider aids such as cornering ABS, traction control, launch control, multiple ride modes and more.
Similar to all KTM 390 models, the new 390 SMC R will also be mass-produced at Bajaj Auto's plant in Chakan, Pune. That said, whether KTM will launch it in India is unknown as the motorcycle is designed for developed markets such as Europe and America. However, if launched in India, the KTM 390 SMC R will be a unique offering and unlike anything available in the market.
