Ola Electric has announced the launch of the base version of its S1 series. Christened the S1, this new variant of the electric scooter was launched in the Indian market at an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 99,999. Here we list the top five highlights of the new Ola S1.
Ola S1 Range and Performance
While this new variant of the Ola Electric’s scooter uses the same 8.5kW motor as the Pro version, the top speed of the base model is capped at 95kmph. The 0-40kmph acceleration on the base variant takes 3.8 seconds against 2.9 seconds on the Pro version. The range, too, is shorter than the S1 Pro. This version of the electric scooter can deliver a range of 141km per charge in the Eco mode. The Normal and Sport modes are claimed to return a range of 101km and 90km per charge, respectively. Further, unlike the Pro variant, the base model misses the performance-oriented Hyper mode. For reference, the top speed of the Pro version is rated at 116kmph while the claimed range in Eco mode stands at 181km.
Ola S1 Features
Similar to the performance and range, the feature list, too, is lower than the Pro version. Thus, this new model from Ola Electric misses out on cruise control. However, this scooter retains Bluetooth connectivity and navigation functions. Further, this model, too, will get OTA updates and the Move OS3 is expected to be pushed by October 2022. It also retains features such as full-LED lighting, a colour-TFT touchscreen display, and 36-litre underseat storage space.
Ola S1 Hardware
The hardware comprises a single fork at the front and a mono-shock at the rear to handle the suspension tasks. The braking setup includes a 220mm disc at the front and a 180mm rotor at the back while the safety net comprises a combined braking system. The scooter rides on 12-inch wheels that are shod in 110/70-section tubeless tyres on both ends.
Ola S1 Styling
The styling is similar to the Pro variant, and the new Ola S1 continues to pack a twin-pod LED headlight with an LED DRL at the front, apron-mounted front turn indicators, curvy body panels, body-coloured front fender, and a single-piece seat.
Ola S1 Colours, Pricing, and Availability
The new Ola S1 will be available in five colours – Porcelain White, Jet Black, Neo Mint, Coral Glam, and Liquid Silver. It is launched at an introductory price tag of Rs 99,999 which is valid for a limited number of units. And the reservations to the early access of the Ola S1 have commenced for Rs 499 only. The pan-India deliveries of the new S1 are scheduled to commence on 7 September, 2022.
