Honda Moto Company has filed a new patent for its electric scooter, the PCX in India. The new patent was filed in April 2021 and is currently under examination. Internationally, the PCX is available in two drivetrain options – Hybrid and Electric. The company has filed a patent application for the electric version of the scooter.
The maxi-scooter styling brings a muscular design to the PCX electric. The vehicle features a twin-pod headlight at the front, a windscreen, a split-style footboard, and a step-up seat. The electric scooter comes with a removable battery pack. The rider can also recharge the battery pack when it is installed on the scooter via a charging cable.
The hardware on the electric scooter includes telescopic forks at the front and twin-sided springs at the back to perform the suspension tasks. The braking setup includes a disc brake at the front and a drum unit at the back. The Indian launch details for the PCX electric scooter are scarce, although we could see the product on our shores soon. Rival brands like Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Company have already introduced their respective electric scooters while Hero MotoCorp will soon enter the space.
Meanwhile, Honda Motor Company has announced plans for electrification of its two-wheelers for the international markets. The company said in an official announcement that these electric vehicle models will be introduced in classes with engine sizes below 50cc and below 125cc by 2024.
