Royal Enfield’s upcoming Himalayan 450 is one of the most anticipated motorcycles of this year and its global debut is all set to take place today, 7 November. The Chennai-based bike maker will unveil the bike at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy. The specifications of the Himalayan 450 have already been revealed and here’s what they look like.
The highlight of the bike is its 450cc, single-cylinder engine with liquid cooling; a first from Royal Enfield. This unit churns out 40bhp and 40Nm and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch. The kerb weight of the bike stands at 196kg while the fuel tank capacity is 17 litres. Talking about dimensions, the standard seat height of this ADV is 825mm but it can be decreased and increased by a significant margin. Further, the ground clearance and wheelbase stand at 230mm and 1,510mm, respectively.
Interestingly, this is the most technologically advanced Royal Enfield to date. The biggest talking point is the new round-shaped colour TFT screen which shows a plethora of information in analogue and digital themes. This screen also offers smartphone connectivity, Google Maps, and notifications for calls and SMS. Other features include a ride-by-wire throttle system, full-LED lighting, and switchable dual-channel ABS. As for the cycle parts, the Himalayan 450 rides on a 21-17-inch spoke wheel combination that is suspended Showa USD forks and a monoshock while braking is handled by a single disc at both ends.
The new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will be available in three variants - Base, Pass, and Summit. It will compete against the likes of the Yezdi Adventure, KTM 390 Adventure, and BMW G 310 GS.
