-New Royal Enfield Himalayan to get new paint schemes
- Likely to be launched in the next couple of weeks
- Will be powered by a BS6-compliant, 411cc engine
Royal Enfield is set to launch the new Himalayan in the next few weeks. After the company released a trailer teasing the motorcycle, the 2020 Himalayan has been spotted out in the open.
The spy images confirm that the 2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan will be offered in new colour schemes that were revealed at the 2019 EICMA in Italy. Along with the ‘Rock Red’ paint scheme which sports gloss black and red on the fuel tank, the new Himalayan is likely to be available in a matte grey paint which Royal Enfield is calling ‘Gravel Grey’ and a ‘Lake Blue’ paint scheme which is a combination of white and blue on the fuel tank.
Apart from the new colours, the new Himalayan remains the same cosmetically. However, it will come powered by a 411cc, single-cylinder engine that has been revised to make it BS6-compliant. While the power figures are unknown, we expect it to churn out slightly lesser power as compared to the BS4 version’s 24.5bhp output. Torque figures on the other hand could remain the same at 32Nm.
We can expect the new Royal Enfield Himalayan to be priced at a premium of around Rs 15,000 to Rs 18,000 over the current model which costs Rs 1.80 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). In terms of competition, it will take on the BMW G310 GS and the KTM 390 Adventure in the country.
