Royal Enfield will launch the Scram 411 on 15 March. With only a few days remaining, we tell you what to expect from the newest motorcycle from the Chennai-based manufacturer.
Road-focused
The Royal Enfield Scram 411 shares most of its underpinnings with the Himalayan. And most of its design like the tank, side panels and fenders are similar too. However, the Scram 411 is comparatively more road-focused, even in its styling. So, it skips the secondary fender and the tall windscreen as well as the wraparound frame. And instead of just a headlamp, the Scram 411 sports a headlamp cowl for a neater finish, a plate on the side of the fuel tank with the ‘411’ badging and a single-piece seat. However, going by recent spy shots, we know that Royal Enfield will be offering the Scram in some interesting colour options.
A 411cc engine
Its name couldn’t have been more descriptive. Royal Enfield is likely to plonk the same 411cc engine as the Himalayan onto the Scram 411. Sitting in the same frame as the former, this single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine could put out the same figures as the off-road version that offers- 24.3bhp and 32Nm. Although, we can expect it to get revised gear ratios to complement its road-biased character.
Decent list of features
The list of features on the upcoming Scram 411 is highly likely to read the same as the Himalayan’s; which is decent enough. The Scram is expected to sport the Tripper Navigation with Bluetooth connectivity besides the semi-digital instrument cluster, conventional lighting all around and dual-channel ABS as standard.
Slightly different hardware
While the Royal Enfield Himalayan rides on a 21/19-inch wheel combo, the Scram 411 is expected to get a smaller, 19-inch wheel up front. That said, with a smaller wheel, it is also likely to get a smaller disc brake. Moreover, the motorcycle is also likely to get revised suspension setup with slightly lesser travel to suit its road-focused character.
Pricing
To put things into perspective, the Royal Enfield Himalayan’s price ranges from Rs 2.14 lakh to Rs 2.22 lakh, depending on the colour option. And since the Scram 411 is touted to be more affordable, we expect it to carry a starting price tag of around Rs 2.10 lakh, ex-showroom.
