- Likely to be Panigale V4 R
- Might get 998cc four-cylinder engine
- To be unveiled on 10 March, 2022
Ducati has released a new teaser video for the Panigale V4 ahead of its unveiling on 10 March 2022. The teaser hints that this upcoming Panigale V4 will be ‘The Ultimate Racetrack Machine’ and that it will represent the pinnacle of Ducati's sportiness. While the company has not confirmed the name of this upcoming variant, we expect it to be the latest iteration of the Panigale V4 R.
The Ducati Panigale V4 R is a road-legal version of the WSBK race bike. Unlike the regular Panigale V4 series, the engine on the R variant has been tweaked to match the racing guidelines. Thus, the Panigale V4 R uses a 998cc, four-cylinder, Desmosedici Stradale R motor that makes 218bhp and 112Nm of torque as against 211bhp and 124Nm from its standard bike’s 1,103cc engine.
The R variant also gets revisions to the chassis and frame for sharper handling. The hardware on the old model included manually adjustable race-spec Ohlins suspension and forged Marchesini wheels. We expect to see similar hardware on the 2022 model.
The electronics package, similar to the old version, should include Bosch cornering ABS, traction control, slide control, wheelie control, launch control, bi-directional quickshifter, engine brake control, pit limiter, and a lap timer.
