Suzuki has showcased the new Access 125 at the ongoing 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. While at first glance it might seem like a facelift, Suzuki has comprehensively updated the scooter with different styling and a new 125cc heart to give it a fresh lease of life.
What's new?
Suzuki has taken a retro approach for the aesthetics of the new Access 125. The front apron has been completely redesigned while the headlamp gets a rectangular shape, with rounded corners. The powertrain comprises of a newly developed 124cc single-cylinder engine, which delivers 8.7bhp and 10Nm of torque through a CVT transmission. When it comes to features, the new Access 125 gets telescopic front forks, alloy wheels, disc brake and a 12V DC power socket. The Access 125 gets a 12-inch front wheel and 10-inch rear wheel. It will be available in five paint schemes - blue, white, gray, red and black.
India relevance?
At first glance, it is quite clear that Suzuki is trying to take a shot at the premium scooter segment with the new Access 125. The features list and the styling are targeted at attracting customers looking for a lifestyle product. It will compete against the Honda Activa 125 and the Vespa VXL 125, though it will be priced much lower than the latter.
Launch plans?
The new Suzuki Access 125 will be launched in April.
