-Spied testing in Europe
-Could be a new Suzuki V-Strom or DR Big
-Expected to be unveiled by end of 2019
A new Suzuki ADV has been spied testing in Europe. However, it is unclear whether the bike is an updated version of the V-Strom or as recent rumours suggests the revival of the DR Big.
The V-Strom is the only ADV Suzuki currently offers and is more of a road-biased ADV than an all-out off-roader. Hence, Suzuki is likely to get something worthy of the path untaken and the DR Big or DR 800 Big seems to be the most probable option. The DR Big was an off-road focused adventure motorcycle Suzuki sold in the ‘80s. The test mule although camouflaged, seems to be sporting a design similar to the 1980 DR 800 Big.
It gets a tall windscreen and a rectangular headlamp with full-LED lighting, a long beak-like structure, and beefy tank shrouds. Furthermore, the bike gets the distinctive rear-view mirrors and turn signals from the V-Strom range. The motorcycle did not seem to get very high-ground clearance and also rode on alloy wheels. However, we can expect Suzuki to roll-out a proper off-road version too.
And while it may be too early to comment, the motorcycle is likely to be powered by the 1037cc, 90-degree V-twin motor as the V-Strom 1000 which produces 99bhp of power and 103Nm of torque. We can expect Suzuki to introduce the production version of the motorcycle at either the Tokyo Motor Show or the EICMA which are held at the latter half of 2019.
