- Suzuki aims to expand the contribution from motorcycles to 20 per cent
- Plans to update its portfolio with new motorcycles

Suzuki Motorcycle India is looking to scale up its motorcycle business in the local market. The Indian arm of the Japanese two-wheeler brand currently offers five products in the mass motorcycle market and three products in the premium segment. The company’s scooter portfolio comprises of just two products – Access 125 and Burgman Street. Yet, the scooters account for 90 per cent of the company’s volumes in the country.
The company aims to expand contribution from motorcycles to 20 per cent in the future. To achieve this target, Suzuki Motorcycle India has already unveiled the updated Gixxer 250 series (Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250) and the Gixxer range (Gixxer and Gixxer SF). The company has also retained its 155cc cruiser, the Intruder during the BS6 transition. While the BS6 Intruder was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020, its launch and price details are yet to be announced.
The company plans to expand its motorcycle portfolio with new products in our market, confirmed Devashish Handa, Vice-President, Suzuki Motorcycle India. He also confirmed that the company will focus on 150cc and above segment.
While the official details are yet to be revealed, the premium segment may witness the arrival of the updated V-Strom 1050 adventure tourer and the Katana roadster. The company is also working on new models in the quarter-litre space, and we could see a new, 250cc ADV or a cruiser bike from the two-wheeler brand in the future.
