Suzuki has launched the 2019 Gixxer 155 in India with a price tag of Rs 100,212 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This is a hike of around Rs 12,000 over its predecessor.
The new model of the Gixxer has received a major cosmetic overhaul making it look more modern and aggressive. The redesigned headlamp along with the chiseled fuel tank and edgier tank extensions give the motorcycle a fresh appeal. At the rear, the naked bike gets the same styling as its recently-launched faired sibling, the Gixxer SF 155 comprising of split seat and svelte tail section. Notably, the Gixxer now gets LED headlamp and tail lamp, while the previous orange backlit instrument cluster has been replaced by a new white backlit unit.
The new model of the Gixxer is powered by the same 155cc, air-cooled, SOHC motor with fuel-injection, which does duty on the 2019 Gixxer SF 155 as well. This powerplant churns out 13.9bhp of power and 14Nm of torque. Suspension duties are taken care of by telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Meanwhile, braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends with single-channel ABS being offered as standard.
Suzuki has launched the new Gixxer in three colour options including glass sparkle black, metallic sonic silver and metallic triton blue. In terms of competition, the new Gixxer 155 goes up against the Honda CB Hornet 160R, Yamaha FZ-S V3.0 and the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, in India.
