- GSX-S1000T under development
- Shares platform with naked sibling
- Will come to India
Suzuki has been working on developing a new litre-class tourer motorcycle based on the new GSX-S1000. This upcoming motorcycle is almost ready and will be called as the GSX-S1000T.
According to a report, the Japanese brand decided to drop the ‘F’ from the name as it wants to position this bike mainly as a tourer and the ‘T’ branding would be apt. The same report went on the claim that this new Suzuki will share most of the components with the naked sibling – the GSX-S1000. So things like engine, chassis, suspension and exhaust will be carried forward from the younger sibling.
The overall dimensions of the GSX-S1000T, however, will be different than the S1000. The T model will be taller and wider than the naked model, thanks to the windscreen and slightly different bodywork respectively. At the time of launch, the T model will be 12kgs heavier than the naked model, making us believe that there will be few more additions to make it touring friendly.
We are expecting Suzuki to unveil the GSX-S1000T late this year, with India launch schedule at the end of year or maybe early next year.
