- Suzuki GSX-S950 breaks cover
- Gets the same 999cc engine but with lesser output
- Sports a different colour
Suzuki has taken the wraps off the GSX-S950 for international markets. The street-naked motorcycle is based on the recently introduced 2021 GSX-S1000, although purpose-built to suit A2-license restrictions.
The GSX-S950 uses the same 999cc, inline-four cylinder engine as the GSX-S1000. However, the motor has been tuned to be restricted to 47bhp for A2 license holders. Once the learner riders get hold of their unrestricted license, the GSX-S950 can be de-restricted to offer full 95bhp; a number that is still a far cry from the GSX-S1000’s 150bhp output.
Besides the revised performance, Suzuki has also downgraded the fully-adjustable KYB forks to non-adjustable units and the Brembo brakes have made way for cost-effective Tokico units instead. However, the rest of the package includes Dunlop Sportmax tyres, traction control, ride-by-wire and low RPM assist function that remains the same as the GSX-S1000. Suzuki will be offering the GSX-950 in Metallic Matt Black and Metallic Triton Blue, just like the bigger bike. However, it has also added a Pearl Brilliant White that features red highlights to differentiate the GSX-S950.
While this motorcycle is expected to reach international showrooms by August this year, it will not be launched in India. Instead, we will get the full-fat GSX-S1000 likely by the end of this year.
