- Pays homage to Suzuki’s MotoGP bike
- To be showcased at Autolook Week Torini festival
Suzuki is all set to withdraw from what’s perceived as the pinnacle of road racing, the MotoGP World Championship. While it’s a disheartening announcement for Suzuki fans, they’ll be glad to know that the company is exiting in style. It’s all set to take the covers off the new GP edition of its most iconic motorcycle, the Hayabusa.
The Suzuki Hayabusa GP edition will be unveiled at the Autolook Week Torini festival in Turin which will be held between 7-11 September, a few days after the San Marino MotoGP in Misano is wrapped up. Besides this special edition Hayabusa, the Japanese bike maker will also be showcasing the two-stroke RG500 and the GSX-RR race bikes.
As the name suggests, the Hayabusa GP is donned by Suzuki Ecstar racing team livery which is much more vibrant and eye-catchy than standard colour schemes. It includes options of red and yellow accents with blue and silver base colours being a commonality. While one of them boasts the number ’36’ on the headlamp, the other one is adorned with ‘42’ which are race numbers of Joan Mir and Alex Rins, respectively. As for the mechanical changes, Suzuki has equipped the bike with Akrapovic’s full-system exhaust while getting rid of the headlamp, mirrors, turn indicators, and number plate holder.
Now, it’s still unclear if the production of the Suzuki Hayabusa GP edition will be limited to just a couple of units or if there will be a mass-production run of the bike.
