- Has been spotted testing
- Will be powered by an 660cc, inline three-cylinder engine
- Gets a sports-touring stance rather than a proper Supersports
Triumph India has teased the Daytona 660 once again on its social media handles. This time, the British bikemaker has given a better glimpse of its upcoming middleweight offering. However, the Daytona 660 had already been spotted testing previously and the spy shots have revealed its design details as well.
When compared to the previously sold Daytona 675, the 660 model seems to be a much more relaxed one. It appears to be built like a sports tourer instead of a supersports motorcycle. The clip-on handles are set high up, the fuel tank seems to bulge out from the top edges, and the split LED headlights are topped by a transparent visor. Moreover, Triumph is likely opting for an underbelly exhaust for the new Daytona instead of a side-mounted one.
We expect the new Triumph Daytona 660 to use the same 660cc, inline triple-cylinder engine as the Trident 660. For reference, it makes 80bhp and 64Nm for the Trident but the state of tune and power delivery could be altered for the Daytona. It will be linked to a six-speed gearbox and come nestled in the same chassis but with a different rear sub-frame.
The hardware will include USD front forks and a monoshock, with dual front discs and a single rear disc. The brakes will be mounted on 17-inch alloys wrapped in road-biased tyres. We also expect Triumph to equip the bike with full LED illumination, traction control, ABS, ride-by-wire, ride modes, and a quickshifter as well.
Triumph India will unveil the Daytona 660 in India on 9 January and we expect it to be priced around Rs. 9 lakh to Rs. 9.25 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will rival the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and the Honda CBR 650R.
