-Cheaper variant of the Scrambler 400X
-Has different alloys, tyres, tail light
-expected to launch soon
The new Triumph Scrambler 400 variant has been spotted testing on our roads. Likely to be called the Scrambler T4 or the 400T, it will be positioned below the Scrambler 400X. This is a few months after Triumph launched the Speed T4 in India, which sits below the Speed 400.
The new Scrambler variant, going by the images, bears a lot of cost-cutting measures to help Triumph price it more accessible. In comparison to the Scrambler 400X, this bike has different alloy wheels wrapped with what looks like MRF tyres.
The USD fork is blacked out instead of the gold-coloured units on the Scrambler 400X. Even the handlebar, pillion grab rail, and rear fender are painted in black.
Other changes over the Scrambler 400X include a single-piece seat instead of the split seats, the removal of the knuckle guard and a new LED tail light.
Barring these changes, the rest of the bike appears to be the same as the Scrambler 400X. It has the same semi-digital instrument cluster and a 398cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. While this engine makes 39.5bhp and 37.5Nm in the 400X, Triumph may tweak the engine to present this bike as a different offering, like it calls the Triumph Speed T4.
The new Triumph Scrambler variant looks close to production-ready and is likely to be launched in India soon. Expect it to be priced around Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 less than the Scrambler 400X which costs Rs 2.65 lakh, ex-showroom.
