- India launch today
- Prices to be announced soon
- Likely to be available from Rs. 2.60 lakh
Triumph Motorcycles India will launch its most affordable motorcycles, the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X in our market today, 5 July, 2023. The company has already commenced the pre-bookings for these products via its India website and through dealerships across the country. Since these motorcycles will be manufactured by Bajaj Auto in Maharashtra, India, we expect to see aggressive pricing for these products.
The road-biased Speed 400 is likely to arrive in the Rs. 2.60 lakh-Rs. 2.80 lakh price range, while the Scrambler 400 X is expected to carry a Rs. 15,000-Rs. 20,000 premium over the former. For this premium, the Scrambler 400 X will pack more off-road-focused hardware such as a 19-inch front wheel and a relatively longer suspension travel. Meanwhile, the road-biased Speed 400 will use 17-inch wheels on both ends.
Notably, both motorcycles are powered by the same 398.15cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that delivers a maximum output of 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 37.5Nm at 6,500rpm. The gearbox benefits from a slipper and assist clutch mechanism. The feature list, too, is similar on both motorcycles, and they pack full-LED lighting, a semi-digital instrument cluster, ride-by-wire throttle, a switchable traction control system, dual-channel ABS, and an anti-theft immobiliser as standard.
The new Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X will rival the likes of the Harley-Davidson X440 and the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 in the Indian market.
Expected prices are ex-showroom, Delhi
