- India launch on 5 July, 2023
- Prices likely to start from Rs. 2.60 lakh
- Both motorcycles will use 398.15cc, liquid-cooled engine
Triumph Motorcycles India will launch its most affordable motorcycles, the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X in our market, on 5 July, 2023. These motorcycles will be manufactured by Bajaj Auto in Maharashtra, India, and thus, we most likely will see aggressive pricing for these products. We expect the road-biased Speed 400 to arrive in the Rs. 2.60 lakh-Rs. 2.80 lakh price range, while the Scrambler 400 X is likely to carry a Rs. 15,000-Rs. 20,000 premium over its sibling.
Notably, both motorcycles will use the same 398.15cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with a dual-overhead-camshaft and four valves. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, this motor is tuned to deliver a maximum output of 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 37.5Nm at 6,500rpm on both products. The gearbox benefits from a slipper-and-assist clutch mechanism. Triumph Motorcycles has announced a class-leading 16,000km service interval for both, the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X, for the international markets.
Further, both motorcycles will also benefit from full-LED lighting, a semi-digital instrument cluster, ride-by-wire throttle, a switchable traction control system, dual-channel ABS, and an anti-theft immobiliser as standard. Meanwhile, the hardware is different on both models, and the road-biased Speed 400 gets 17-inch wheels on both ends. The Scrambler 400 X, on the other hand, uses 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels.
Expected prices are ex-showroom, Delhi
