- New Speed Triple 1160 in the works
- Will churn out more power, torque
- Will be available in RS variant
Triumph Motorcycles is working on a host of new motorcycles for 2020. In fact, the next generation Tiger 900 along with the new Daytona 765 were spotted testing recently. Now, there’s information about another new bike – the new Speed Triple 1160.
According to Benetts, the British bike maker has commenced road testing of this upcoming litre-class motorcycle but is yet to be caught on camera. However, there are some details about the new Speed Triple that will make things exciting. Firstly, the displacement will go up by 110cc to 1160cc. This increase is a result of increase in bore from 79mm to 83mm while the stroke remains unchanged. This increase will give the bike a decent power increase and also help it be Euro 5 compliant.
Mechanically, the Speed Triple is likely to get a new frame, subframe and swingarm. Along with this, this new Triumph will get a host of latest electronics that we have been seeing in most of the Triumphs these days. But with the new Speed Triple, things could get a bit more advanced. The overall styling will be updated as well, and the Speed Triple could ditch the round split headlamps.
Just like it did with the Street Triple, the new Speed Triple is likely to be offered in two variants – standard and an RS model. The latter will get top-class suspension, brakes, quickshifter and some fancier equipment.
We are expecting a world debut for the new Speed Triple 1160 at the 2019 EICMA Show. Will this new Speed Triple make it to India? It’s little difficult to say that because India never got the current Speed Triple.
