Triumph Motorcycles has updated its Chinese product portfolio with the launch of the new Speed Triple 1200 RS. The new Speed Triple 1200 RS has been introduced in the country at 1,89,895 yuan (approximately Rs 21.76 lakh). In comparison, the naked roadster is sold at Rs 16.95 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The company announced the launch of the motorcycle for the Chinese market at the 2021 Beijing Motor Show.
The latest iteration of the motorcycle features a revised front that comprises an aggressive front fascia. The styling cues on the new Speed Triple 1200 RS include a twin-pod headlight setup with eye-brow style DRLs, a muscular fuel tank, sleek tail section, side-slung exhaust, and a single-sided swingarm. The motorcycle benefits from full-LED lighting and a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster. Triumph Motorcycles has managed to reduce the weight of the motorcycle and the new model is 10kg lighter than its predecessor.
Mechanical specifications have received a major revision and the new Speed Triple 1200 RS uses a 1,160cc, inline three-cylinder motor instead of the 1,050cc engine on the old model. The new motor makes 30bhp more power than the previous model. The maximum power and peak torque output figures are rated at 178bhp and 125Nm, respectively. The six-speed transmission comes standard with a slipper and an assist clutch along with a bi-directional quickshifter.
