- Pre-bookings open ahead of launch
- Launch date unavailable yet
- To rival the Ducati Multistrada V4 and BMW R 1250 GS
Triumph Motorcycles India has commenced the pre-bookings for its flagship adventure tourer, the Tiger 1200. While the company has confirmed the start of the pre-bookings, it is yet to announce a launch date for this motorcycle.
The motorcycle was fully revealed earlier this month, and it is available in select international markets already. The 2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 gets several upgrades over its predecessor. This flagship adventure tourer from the British marque will be sold in two configurations – Rally and GT. The GT range is designed for touring while the Rally model, on the other hand, is aimed for off-road use. Thus, the GT model range uses 19-inch front and 18-inch rear alloy wheels and a relatively shorter suspension travel than the Rally variant. The off-road biased Rally model gets a longer travel suspension and 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels with a cross-spoke design.
Both variants use the same 1,160cc, inline-three cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the motor is tuned to produce 147bhp of power at 9,000rpm and 130Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheel via a shaft drive system.
The new Triumph Tiger 1200 will rival the likes of the Ducati Multistrada V4 series and the BMW R 1250 GS range. We expect the new model to carry a price premium over its predecessor and retail from Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.
