- Triumph Tiger 1200 to get more powerful engine
- Could produce around 170bhp
- Is likely to be unveiled by the end of this year
Triumph Motorcycles has been spotted testing an updated version of their flagship adventure touring motorcycle- the Tiger 1200.
And according to reports, the new Tiger 1200 could get a smaller displacement but more powerful engine, taking the fight directly to the BMW R1250 GS. And this engine would be derived from the Speed Triple RS whose 1,160cc, inline-three cylinder engine produces 178bhp and 125Nm. If the reports are to be believed, these won’t be the exact numbers on the Tiger 1200 which would have its motor tuned to suit its ADV character.
Currently, the Triumph Tiger 1200 uses a 1,215cc mill and the smaller motor would not only add horsepower but also help cut down on the Tiger’s fat. Adding to this, the test mule also revealed that the new Tiger 1200 would sport a new, two-arm swingarm.
Technicalities aside, Triumph has also gone to the drawing board with the upcoming Tiger 1200 and given it a styling similar to the Tiger 900, the detailed review of which you can watch on the BikeWale YouTube channel. Nevertheless, we can also expect Triumph to plonk in some advanced electronic rider aids along with bumping the price up a bit.
Now, the new Triumph Tiger 1200 is expected to make its way to international markets by the end of this year and is likely to be launched in India soon after.
