- To be launched on 9 February, 2021
- Will be the new entry-level model of the Tiger range
- Uses same engine as the Tiger 900 series
Triumph Motorcycles India has confirmed that it will launch the new Tiger 850 Sport in our market on 9 February, 2021. The upcoming Tiger 850 Sport will be the new entry-level model in the company’s Tiger range.
While the Tiger 850 Sport carries an “850” tag, the motorcycle uses the same engine as the Tiger 900 series. Thus, mechanical specifications include an 888cc, inline-three cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Triumph has retuned the mapping, and the Tiger 850 Sport makes 84bhp of maximum power at 8,500rpm as against 93.9bhp at 8,750rpm on the Tiger 900 series. The peak torque, too, is lower than the 900 range and the entry-level model makes 81.3Nm at 6,500rpm as against 86.7Nm at 7,250rpm.
The hardware on the Tiger 850 Sport includes the Marzocchi-sourced suspension setup and Brembo Stylema brakes. The electronic rider aids include two riding modes – Road and Rain, switchable traction control, a USB charging port, full-LED lighting, and a full-colour TFT display sans Bluetooth connectivity.
