Triumph Motorcycles has updated its India portfolio with the launch of the new Tiger 900 range. The Indian market gets three variants of the Tiger 900 range – the GT, Rally and Rally Pro. In this article, we bring you the top five highlights of the off-road spec Triumph Tiger 900 Rally series.
Variants and Features
The Tiger 900 Rally is available in two variants – Rally and Rally Pro. Both variants feature identical design, engine and hardware specifications. The two models, however, are distinguished by their respective features. Standard features on both variants include seven-inch TFT display, LED lighting, mobile phone storage and USB charging. The Tiger Rally Pro, which is the top-spec version of the Tiger 900 series, gets LED auxiliary fog lights, Triumph Shift Assist quickshifter, heated seats (rider and pillion), tyre pressure monitoring system, My Triumph connectivity system, illuminated switches and a centre stand as standard. The safety net on both variants include cornering ABS and traction control with IMU.
Design
The Triumph Tiger 900 range uses a modular frame with bolt-on rear sub-frame and pillion hangers. Triumph has opted for an aggressive styling that now features re-designed smaller-scale bodywork. The off-road spec Rally series features tubeless tyre-compatible cross-spoke wheel. The front features a 21-inch wheel while the rear gets a 17-inch unit. Both, the Rally and Rally Pro are available in three colour options – Pure White, Sapphire Black and Matt Khaki.
Engine
All variants of the Tiger 900 range use the same engine. Linked to a six-speed transmission, the 888cc, inline three-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 12-valve, DOHC motor produces 93.9bhp at 8,750rpm and 87Nm at 7,250rpm. The Rally model features four riding modes (Rain, Road, Sport and Off-road). The Rally Pro version gets an additional “Rider configurable” setting over and above the four riding modes available on the Rally model.
Hardware
Similar to the engine, the hardware specifications are identical on the Rally and the Rally Pro variants. Thus, the shock absorption tasks are handled by Showa 45mm upside-down forks at the front and Showa mono-shock at the back. The front suspension setup features manual preload, rebound damping and compression damping adjustment. The rear gets manual preload and rebound damping adjustability. Braking setup includes twin 320mm floating discs with Brembo Stylema 4 piston Monobloc callipers at the front and a single 255mm disc with a Brembo single piston sliding calliper at the back.
Price
The Triumph Tiger 900 Rally version is available for Rs 14,35,000 while the Rally Pro variant is priced at Rs 15,50,000 (both ex-showroom Pan India).
