Triumph Motorcycles will finally launch the new Tiger Explorer this week. In fact, the company has gone ahead and released full specifications of the new Tiger Explorer which has six versions.
The new Tiger Explorer has been changed cosmetically and mechanically, with the latter taking most of the efforts. The 1215cc three-cylinder engine of this adventure has been worked upon to deliver five per cent more fuel economy than the outgoing model. Power figures on this bike stand at 137bhp at 9300rpm and 123Nm at 6200rpm. Gearbox is six-speed that transfers power to the rear wheel via a shaft drive.
The six versions in question are the XC, XCx, XCa, XR, XRx and XRt. While mechanically all the models are identical, the changes are seen on the features front. The XCX, XCA, XRX, XRT models gets WP semi-active suspension with auto-levelling rear preload and a torque assist clutch whereas the XRx and XCx models have a low seat option. Other features that are loaded onto the new Tiger Explorer are cornering ABS, traction control, five riding modes (road, rain, off-road, sport and custom) and a hill hold function. Interestingly, the new Tiger Explorer is also equipped with an inertia measurement unit that measures yaw, pitch, roll and acceleration across three planes – vertical, lateral and longitudinal.
The Indian arm of the British manufacturer will bring the new Tiger Explorer to India for sure. But the exact launch date isn’t known it. And talking about the price, expect Triumph to ask little more for this new adventure model.
