After India, Triumph Motorcycles has announced the launch of its new Trident 660 in the Chinese market. The middleweight naked roadster has been launched in China at 86,895 yuan (approximately Rs 9.90 lakh). In comparison, the motorcycle is available from Rs 6.95 lakh onwards (ex-showroom) in the Indian market. The launch announcement was made at the 2021 Beijing Motor Show. The Trident 660 rivals the likes of the Kawasaki Z650 and the Honda CB650R. The mechanical specifications include a 660cc, inline three-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that makes 79.8bhp at 10,250rpm and 64Nm of peak torque at 6,250rpm. The six-speed gearbox benefits from an assist and a slipper clutch mechanism as standard.
The feature list on the motorcycle comprises of full-LED lighting and a Bluetooth-ready instrument cluster. The hardware on the motorcycle includes a tubular steel perimeter frame, 17-inch cast-aluminium wheels, 41mm Showa separate function front forks, and a pre-load adjustable rear mono-shock. The anchoring tasks are handled by 310mm twin rotors at the front and a 255mm single disc at the back – both grabbed by Nissin-sourced callipers.
