TVS has recently launched the updated iteration of its 200cc street bike, the Apache RTR 200 4V. The motorcycle now packs some segment-first traits such as three riding modes (urban, rain and sport) and adjustable Showa suspension. Despite these admirable revisions, it has received a meagre price hike of Rs 2,500 and costs Rs 1.31 lakh now. If you’re pondering over alternatives with a similar price tag, here are your options.
Bajaj Pulsar NS200: Rs 1.31 lakh
The Apache’s closest rival in terms of displacement, body style and pricing is the Bajaj Pulsar NS200. The aggressive styling of the bike has remained the same since its inception. However, it has recently received new and sportier colour options. While it’s relatively basic in terms of features, the 199.5cc, liquid-cooled engine of the bike is quite peppy. It churns out 24.13bhp and 18.5Nm and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Honda Hornet 2.0: Rs 1.27 lakh
Another competitor of the Apache is the new Honda Hornet 2.0 which is the successor to the 160cc derivative of the motorcycle. It gets a more muscular styling with edgy graphics and chunky upside down forks with golden finish. It also gets full-LED lighting, fully-digital console and a hazard light switch. Powering the bike is a new 184cc, air-cooled mill which is linked with a five-speed gearbox and produces 17.03bhp and 16.1Nm.
Suzuki Gixxer SF: Rs 1.25 lakh
If you have a thing for fully-faired motorcycles, Suzuki has the Gixxer SF in its portfolio. It sports a styling identical to its larger 250cc sibling with a sleek LED headlamp, a small visor, angular fairing, a muscular fuel tank and a sharp tail. Although it gets an engine smaller than the aforementioned offerings, the 155cc unit is potent and smooth. It is capable of belting out 13.4bhp and 13.8Nm.
Royal Enfield Bullet 350: Rs 1.27 lakh-1.43 lakh
For those who want a pair of wheels with an old-school charm, the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 is the ideal option in this segment. It is the oldest running model in the bike maker’s portfolio with a quintessential vintage styling and a comfortable riding stance. Propelling the Bullet is a 346cc, air-cooled motor which is good for 19.2bhp and 28Nm. Staying true to its classic genre, the Bullet is bare basic on the feature front.
