TVS has resumed testing its upcoming bike – the Apache RTR 200. A camouflaged prototype was spied testing on the roads of Tamil Nadu recently.
Thanks to our friends at PowerDrift, this spy picture has revealed quite a lot of details. The overall design language is of a typical naked streetfighter motorcycle. TVS is known to make good-looking bikes and this bike won’t be any different. The headlight assembly looks quite slim and doesn’t take any inspiration from the models on sale currently. The exhaust is completely new and it’s bigger. The tyres on this prototype are fatter and wider, something that we first saw on the Yamaha FZ-S.
Unlike the current Apache models, this new motorcycle will feature a monoshock setup at the rear. Interestingly, the alloy wheels look exactly like the ones we saw on the Draken Concept that was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo. The turn indicators and the rear-view mirrors look like the one we have seen in the current Apache range. We are expecting the swingarm to be slightly longer to take care of more power and improve handling and stability.
We are expecting TVS to launch this new bike in the next few weeks. Once launched, it will compete with the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 and the Pulsar AS 200.
