A camouflaged test mule of the TVS Apache RTR 200 was snapped again following its recent sightings in Tamil Nadu. The upcoming bike might be in its final stages of testing and the company may launch it at the Auto Expo 2016.
The production-ready motorcycle sports an upside down telescopic suspension in the front, mono shock at the rear and petal disc brakes. The bike gets a new sleek headlamp, tall handlebars with matte black finish, while the mirrors are carried over from the current range of Apache motorcycles. The brake and clutch levers are finished in aluminium and the side indicators are slimmer than the ones on the current Apache.
Even if this test mule is adorned with a blue cloth to mask the changes, the earlier images have shown us the well-sculpted tank that gets an off-set placed fuel-lid. The new Apache will get a new instrument cluster featuring a lap-timer and top-speed recorder. The black alloy wheels get a new design pattern and are shod with TVS tubeless tyres. The exhaust seems to be a make-shift one, but the final version might get a similar dual exhaust can.
There are not many details on the powertrain that is expected to be a 200cc single-cylinder engine outputting about 25bhp of power. However, with a lightweight body, aggressive yet comfortable riding position, this might offer good performance, ride and handling.
The TVS Apache RTR 200 has borrowed styling elements from the Draken-X21 concept showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo and even the recently unveiled BMW G310R. The much-awaited product from TVS Motors is expected to put up a tough fight against the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS. If priced below Rs 1 lakh, it will take the naked segment of motorcycles by storm as there is no other motorcycle to provide aggressive performance at this price point.
