TVS Motor Company is working on the roadster-segment variant of its flagship motorcycle, the Apache RR310. This new motorcycle will share its underpinnings with the fully-faired model, sans the fairing and aggressive ergonomics. We got the first glimpse of the production-spec test mule via spy photographs which revealed crucial details about this roadster-segment product from TVS Motor Company. Here we list everything that we know about the upcoming Apache RR310-based roadster that will rival the KTM 390 Duke in India.
What will TVS call this Apache RR310-based roadster-segment motorcycle?
While the official details are scarce, a leaked document has hinted that this motorcycle could be called the RTX 310. However, this name does not match the company’s existing roadster-segment products that carry the RTR prefix. Thus, until we receive an official confirmation, we will call this product the Apache RTR 310.
What will be the styling cues of the TVS Apache RTR 310?
The latest spy images have revealed the rear design of this upcoming motorcycle. These images reveal the twin-pod design for the taillight along with a rear-tyre hugger-mounted numberplate and turn indicators, and an Apache RR310-style instrument cluster. Notably, the design of the tail section is noticeably different from the unit on the Apache RR310. Since the Apache RR310 has not received a major styling upgrade since its debut, we may see these revised styling elements on the fully-faired model as well.
Then, the pictures also reveal the upright ergonomics of the motorcycle that have been achieved through a flat, single-piece handlebar as against the clip-on-style units on the Apache RR310. These should deliver city-friendly ergonomics to the upcoming Apache RTR 310. These images also give a brief glimpse of the instrument cluster, which appears to be noticeably different from the vertically-mounted unit on the Apache RR310.
What would be the specifications of the TVS Apache RTR 310?
The official details about the mechanical specifications are not available yet. However, since this motorcycle is based on the Apache RR310, we expect to see the same 312.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine on the RTR 310 as well. This motor is tuned to deliver a maximum output of 33.5bhp at 9,700rpm and a peak torque of 27.3Nm at 7,700rpm on the flagship TVS Motor Company product. We expect to see similar output figures on the Apache RTR 310 as well. Meanwhile, the hardware comprises a trellis frame, upside-down front forks, rear monoshock, and disc brakes on both wheels.
What features will the TVS Apache RTR 310 get?
The spy images have confirmed that the upcoming TVS Apache RTR 310, similar to the Apache RR310, will use full-LED lighting. Thus, it will come equipped with an LED headlight, LED taillight, and LED turn indicators. Then, similar to the fully-faired motorcycle, the roadster, too, should benefit from a Bluetooth-enabled colour TFT display, riding modes, and a dual-channel ABS. Further, since the traction control system is making its way into more sub-500cc products, it will not be surprising to see this safety feature on the upcoming Apache RTR 310 and the next-generation Apache RR310 as well.
What are the expected prices and launch date of the TVS Apache RTR 310?
The launch details for the new TVS Apache RTR 310 are not available yet. However, we may see this product in our market either in late 2023 or early 2024. As for the pricing, the Apache RTR 310 will most likely be positioned below its fully faired sibling, which costs about Rs. 2.65 lakh. Thus, the roadster-segment motorcycle could be priced at around Rs. 2.40 lakh and Rs. 2.50 lakh.
