- New TVS Jupiter 125 launched
- Gets an all-new engine and chassis
- Competes against the Suzuki Access 125
TVS Motor Company has taken the wraps off its newest offering, the Jupiter 125, in India. The prices of the scooter start from Rs 73,400 (ex-showroom) onwards and it sits above the older Jupiter 110 in its band’s portfolio.
The Jupiter 125 has been developed from the ground up and almost every component in it is new. Firstly, it runs on a 124.8cc, air-cooled engine incorporating a two-valve head, unlike the Ntorq 125's three-valve set up. It churns out around 8.2bhp of power and 10.5Nm of peak torque. Similar to the smaller Jupiter, it rides on 12-inch wheels with telescopic forks at the front. However, the rear damper is a new canister-equipped monoshock. Braking is handled by a drum at both ends while a single disc comes as an option.
On the design front, the Jupiter 125 looks bigger and more premium than the smaller Jupiter. The top-end variant in particular looks quite handsome with chrome embellishments. Where the Jupiter is truly special is on the feature front. It gets a 32-litre under seat storage space which is the largest we have seen yet. It also gets a front glove box with a USB charger. The most interesting bit is the placement of the fuel filler cap at the front. TVS has also made it quite spacious with a seat that’s 65mm larger than its smaller sibling.
In the Indian market, the new TVS Jupiter 125 will go up against the likes of the Suzuki Access 125 and the Honda Activa 125.
