TVS Motor Company has announced the launch of a new premium commuter motorcycle in the Indian market, the Raider. The new model is available with prices starting from Rs 77,500 onwards and it rivals the likes of Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 and the Honda SP 125 in India. Here we bring you the top five highlights of the new TVS Raider.
Design
In terms of design, the new TVS Raider gets a modern design for the LED headlight, body coloured headlight cowl, body-coloured front fender, split-style saddle, aluminium grab rail, and an engine cowl. The premium styling elements include a 3D TVS logo on the fuel tank and a Raider logo on the side panel. The stylish design should appeal to young buyers who are planning to purchase a budget-friendly, sporty motorcycle. TVS Motor Company will offer this 125cc sporty commuter motorcycle in four options – Striking Red, Blazing Blue, Wicked Black, and Fiery Yellow.
Features
The standard features on both variants of the motorcycle comprise an LED headlight with integrated LED DRLs, an LED taillight, a five-inch digital display, and a first-in-segment under-seat storage. The Connected variant of the motorcycle further benefits from a Bluetooth system and Voice Assist function that works with the TVS SmartXConnect system. The list of additional functions on the Connected variant includes navigation, incoming calls, and message notifications. Apart from the ride-related information, the display also shows a wide range of data such as top speed recorder, fuel economy, and range among others. A USB charger is available as an optional extra.
Engine
The new TVS Raider is powered by a 124.8cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, three-valve engine that makes 11.2bhp at 7,500rpm and 11.2Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm. The motor is linked to a five-speed transmission. The Raider also boasts two riding modes (Eco and Power) and an Idle Stop Start system to deliver enhanced fuel economy. The 0-60kmph acceleration takes 5.9 seconds while the top speed has been rated at 99kmph.
Hardware
The hardware on the new Raider includes 30mm telescopic front forks and a preload-adjustable rear mono-shock to perform the shock absorption tasks. The braking setup on the base version includes drum units on both wheels. The disc variant, on the other hand, uses a 240mm disc at the front and a 130mm drum unit at the back. The safety net across the variants comprises a combined braking system. The fuel tank capacity is rated at 10-litre while the kerb weight is rated at 123kg. The 17-inch alloy wheels are wrapped in 80/100-section front and 100/90-section rear tyres.
Variants and Prices
TVS Motor Company will offer the new Raider in three variants – Drum, Disc, and Connected. The Drum and the Disc variants have been priced at Rs 77,500 and Rs 85,469, respectively. The prices for the Connected version are not available yet.
